The St. James Gate F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brigid Rutherford should have stopped the shot. Vladimiro Abastas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pearse McWilliam in the 13th minute. In the 15th minute Aquiles Gotzon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brigid Rutherford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barhart Costello in the 18th minute of play forced CLUB ATLETICO MALANDRAS's goalkeeper Vladimiro Abastas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute Israel Sadurni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brigid Rutherford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half CLUB ATLETICO MALANDRAS were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Lázaro Calvet's late challenge caught a St. James Gate F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lázaro Calvet helped the player get up and apologised. After 72 played minutes CLUB ATLETICO MALANDRAS got a freekick which was hit by Lázaro Calvet. 74 minutes into the match, Hewney Kirby notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of CLUB ATLETICO MALANDRAS's Vladimiro Abastas.
