In the 9th minute, Leon Matthäus ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thibaut Courtois was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Primo Speranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ovidio Favila in the 12th minute of play. Thibaut Courtois showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leon Matthäus in the 14th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Leon Matthäus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thibaut Courtois was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. Thibaut Courtois made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leon Matthäus in the 21st minute of play. After some careless play in the Academia 1903 defense, Luis Tonete kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Primo Speranza. The Academia 1903 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Primo Speranza should have stopped the shot. When Leon Matthäus came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Academia 1903 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leon Matthäus couldn't finish the play. Thibaut Courtois didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leon Matthäus went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Leon Matthäus might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thibaut Courtois. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leon Matthäus ran back to his position shaking his head. Thibaut Courtois showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leon Matthäus, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. After a rather tough play, Academia 1903's Jeremias Ezkerra got a free kick in the 46th minute. Academia 1903's Jakub Fedor was substituted for Jeremias Ezkerra. Esteve Mikelats kicked well hit freekick during the 49th minute of the match. The GUSESI players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Academia 1903 were winning 1-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Olgierd Dawiec to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute Leandro Ederono shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Primo Speranza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leon Matthäus's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thibaut Courtois read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Academia 1903 were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after GUSESI's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Harald Ek took the corner. The corner ended in Jakub Fedor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but GUSESI's Thibaut Courtois did a great save. 61 minutes into the match, GUSESI's Olgierd Dawiec sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Primo Speranza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A well-hit corner resulted in Luis Tonete heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 74th minute, Benjamin Myhr hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Olgierd Dawiec might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Primo Speranza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Olgierd Dawiec ran back to his position shaking his head. 76 minutes into the game, GUSESI's Ovidio Favila nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Primo Speranza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. 79 minutes into the match, GUSESI's goal looked a bit too open when Timoteo Columbo came free, but Thibaut Courtois reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Timoteo Columbo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thibaut Courtois read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. The supporters of Academia 1903 booed when GUSESI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esteve Mikelats didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind GUSESI's goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 97th minute, Timoteo Columbo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Thibaut Courtois. The goal made the score 2-6. Although GUSESI had been in control for most of the match, Academia 1903 still came away with the win.
