In the 10th minute of the match ATHLETICO PRaiano got a corner. AD Pontassolense's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Betão Marquez ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Betão Marquez almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but AD Pontassolense's Gentil Macieira did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Madruga in the 13th minute of play forced ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. ATHLETICO PRaiano's Rodriguinho Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Madruga in the 13th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Deilmison van Basten took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Gentil Macieira to make any attempt to save it. 17 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goal looked a bit too open when Januário Domingos came free, but Rodriguinho Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gentil Macieira. That made the score 2-0 after 19 minutes of play. That made the score 3-0 after 23 minutes of play. 31 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goal looked a bit too open when Nuno Madruga came free, but Rodriguinho Sousa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the AD Pontassolense defense, Deilmison van Basten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gentil Macieira. The AD Pontassolense fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gentil Macieira should have stopped the shot. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Madruga, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Deilmison van Basten fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gentil Macieira having to interfere. Rodriguinho Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paul Mussett in the 43rd minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Deilmison van Basten to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's Deilmison van Basten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gentil Macieira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 53 minutes into the match, ATHLETICO PRaiano's goalkeeper Rodriguinho Sousa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nuno Madruga. The ATHLETICO PRaiano fans cheered their team off the field, for while AD Pontassolense had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
