They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ceferino Tabor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. AFC United's Andries De Putter got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Faustino Asprilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 71st match minute, Cordoba Athletic FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Gartzea to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Cordoba Athletic FC's zone, Faustino Asprilla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rıdvan Mürsel came out of the goal and Faustino Asprilla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Faustino Asprilla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Rıdvan Mürsel made a huge save. Rıdvan Mürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faustino Asprilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. AFC United's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jordi Scherz in the 90th minute. After taking down the ball on AFC United's corner Isaac Fernandez fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Rıdvan Mürsel quite easily take care of the ball. The Cordoba Athletic FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching AFC United's performance. The match ended with a win for AFC United.
