The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Luai Al Motaire kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 3rdth minute. Though ot was a great shot GAIS's keeper Wlodzimierz Cipinski was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Luai Al Motaires short, quick shot in the 4thth minute got Wlodzimierz Cipinski to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Farhan Shamsah's late challenge caught a GAIS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Farhan Shamsah helped the player get up and apologised. 10 minutes into the match, GAIS's Emilio Jakue sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leoiar Liebana narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Leoiar Liebana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emilio Jakue, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. When GAIS's Emilio Jakue in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Al Hilal Saudi's goalie prevented a goal. Wlodzimierz Cipinski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Motlaq Al Zamel in the 20th minute of the match. If Yaseen Al Ateqi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Derar Al Saffar fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Al Hilal Saudi's protests and gave Derar Al Saffar a yellow card for diving instead. GAIS made a substitution. Olov Ivarsson replaced Konrad Josefsson. In the 33rd minute, Derar Al Saffar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 34th minute Filip Bäckman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leoiar Liebana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Filip Bäckman kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 39th match minute, GAIS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filip Bäckman to maneuver through the defense. 43 minutes into the match, Al Hilal Saudi's goal looked a bit too open when Emilio Jakue came free, but Leoiar Liebana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Al Hilal Saudi's zone, Tobias Lekberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leoiar Liebana came out of the goal and Tobias Lekberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Filip Bäckman in the 47th minute of play forced Al Hilal Saudi's goalkeeper Leoiar Liebana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Yaseen Al Ateqi to make the kick off. Filip Bäckman hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. A collision led to Al Hilal Saudi getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Sarhan Al Mulaifi hit a great ball. Leoiar Liebana made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Emilio Jakue sent off a good shot on target. If Tobias Lekberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice moves Emilio Jakue could shoot a difficult shot in the 81st minute, which Leoiar Liebana however easily saved by the left post. When Filip Bäckman fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GAIS's protests and gave Filip Bäckman a yellow card for diving instead. Wlodzimierz Cipinski came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Al Hilal Saudi's Eesa Al Dekhel. But to his dismay, Eesa Al Dekhel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Tobias Lekberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
