In the 30thth minute of the game Abel de Godoi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The corner led Olivedos's Luisinho Ceresso to fire away a dangerous shot which Iker Casillas despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 38th minute of the match, Abel de Godoi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Iker Casillas saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Ove Bergman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abelardo Maranhense having to interfere. Cássio Ferraz in the 44thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Iker Casillas, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When the match clock showed 44 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Cássio Ferraz sped through Villa Gordiani's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Iker Casillas. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Villa Gordiani's Franco Cacciatore was substituted for Ciro Esposito. The wind increased when Abel de Godoi made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Villa Gordiani was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Philippe Albert to maneuver through the defense. Otang Irawan was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 68th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Iker Casillas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cássio Ferraz in the 70th minute of the match. Olivedos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Villa Gordiani the free kick. After a rather tough play, Olivedos's Agostinho Cosme got a free kick in the 97th minute. Anfilogino Trombatore managed to trick Olivedos's defense and made a shot which however Abelardo Maranhense didn't slip through. A nice save in the 100thth minute. Villa Gordiani's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
