Ando Averin made in the 8th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Ignacio Berenguer. Usain Bolt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erwin Huygens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Velez Sarsfield's Sun Zhi Zhen got a free kick in the 14th minute. Kálmán Pádár struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Erwin Huygens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mapovihesa FC. Velez Sarsfield's Erwin Huygens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kálmán Pádár in the 23rd minute of play. Mapovihesa FC's Constantin Potocianu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Mapovihesa FC from getting a goal against them. Erwin Huygens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kálmán Pádár in the 41st minute of play. With an all-out effort, Velez Sarsfield's Constantin Potocianu threw himself towards the right post 43 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Augusto Cordario, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 46th minute Augusto Cordario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Constantin Potocianu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Augusto Cordario to make the kick off. Velez Sarsfield's Erwin Huygens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Usain Bolt in the 57th minute of play. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Erwin Huygens, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Erwin Huygens made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Raimundo Erramu sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 82 minutes, Jerzy Wojno managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mapovihesa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerzy Wojno was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Velez Sarsfield made a substitution. Leandro Berti replaced Ignacio Berenguer. 86 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Erwin Huygens had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Raimundo Erramu. The crowd rose to their feet as Mapovihesa FC's Marcial Iratze slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Erwin Huygens. That made the score 0-1 after 87 minutes of play.
