The audience thought a goal was coming when Qu Sen Yan got free with Erwin Huygens in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 31 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Erwin Huygens had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robert Boruta. Velez Sarsfield's Erwin Huygens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Velez Sarsfield from getting a goal against them. Michael Owens short, quick shot in the 35thth minute got Erwin Huygens to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

Jesus Luke breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 91 played minutes Atlético Montserrat got a freekick which was hit by Anastasio Rito. The Atlético Montserrat supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Velez Sarsfield's performance. The match ended with a win for Velez Sarsfield.
