The supporters of Velez Sarsfield booed when Twierdza Wroclaw was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Velez Sarsfield's Ando Averin managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Misael Mesia in the 9 minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Cordario in the 11th minute of play forced Twierdza Wroclaw's goalkeeper Tony Kroneder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ademir Donatello lost his temper 12 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fryderyk Dlugi to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fryderyk Dlugi in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Erwin Huygens saved Velez Sarsfield from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Fernando Quinteros in the 64th minute of play forced Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Erwin Huygens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
