Federico Abud made in the 23rd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Marco Odermatt immediately put the ball in play. Scarafia Ghost took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nino Schurter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dani Carbajal lost his temper 26 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Go Ahead Eagles fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 25th minute. Penalty! In the 28th minute there was a penalty for Espen Steelers. Alain Berset stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Scarafia Ghost. 0-1. Cássio Gonçalves hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match.

Go Ahead Eagles's Fernando Amorebieta was substituted for Manga Mangkudikusumah. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nino Schurter was the one to do the kick off. Gregor Kobel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iustin Bâru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nino Schurter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Scarafia Ghost having to interfere. Go Ahead Eagles made a substitution. Panos Kaklamanos replaced Panos Karagoutis. In the 60th match minute, Go Ahead Eagles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iakovos Efthimiadis to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erling Lewandowski in the 61st minute of play forced Espen Steelers's goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Cássio Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Espen Steelers's Gregor Kobel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cássio Gonçalves in the 84th minute of play. Gregor Kobel came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Go Ahead Eagles's Erling Lewandowski. But to his dismay, Erling Lewandowski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 90th minute, Cássio Gonçalves made a precise shot to the right of Gregor Kobel. Espen Steelers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Scarafia Ghost showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stan Wawrinka in the 93rd minute of the match. The supporters of Espen Steelers booed when Go Ahead Eagles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vural Akyol didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 97th minute, Williams Imholz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Espen Steelers players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Go Ahead Eagles.
