After a rather tough play, MIT's Marcel Pătrășconiu got a free kick in the 2nd minute. After 3 played minutes, Palermo's Julian Birila shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gigel Gorgan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Palermo reached it. Baldomiro Eutor hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Marcu Voitiş could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Enrique Lekubegi made a huge save. In the 15th minute, Lucian Mangra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Cristi Foltea fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MIT's protests and gave Cristi Foltea a yellow card for diving instead. In the 17th minute, Cristi Foltea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Santos Ioritz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, MIT's Emil Glodeanu got a free kick in the 30th minute. Marcu Voitiş fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enrique Lekubegi having to interfere. Gigel Gorgan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicanor Gaufred, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Marcu Voitiş could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Enrique Lekubegi made a huge save. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nicanor Gaufred was the one to do the kick off. After 54 minutes of play, MIT's Marcu Voitiş made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Enrique Lekubegi was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Palermo getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Oscar Eguen hit a great ball. Enrique Lekubegi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcu Voitiş in the 62nd minute of the match. After 68 minutes of play, MIT's Marcu Voitiş made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Enrique Lekubegi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Enrique Lekubegi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcu Voitiş, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcu Voitiş in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Enrique Lekubegi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, MIT's Eusebiu Siniştean got a free kick in the 81st minute. Enrique Lekubegi came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by MIT's Marcel Pătrășconiu. But to his dismay, Marcel Pătrășconiu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 90 minutes into the match, Marcu Voitiş notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Palermo's Enrique Lekubegi. Enrique Lekubegi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
