Alfredo Esteves kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. In the 5th minute, Benjamin Semeno hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 17 minutes into the match, César Rosa notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Merengue FC's Mateo Llorienzo. Mateo Llorienzo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Marzagão's defense didn't have a chance, in the 20th minute, when Domingo Jago scored to the left of an out of position Pedro Luís Fernandez, making the score, 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Eugenio Sedeni kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Pedro Luís Fernandez. That made the score 2-1 in the 25 minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 30 minutes, Pedro Luís Fernandez successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Niceto Sendoa's late challenge caught a Marzagão's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Niceto Sendoa helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Merengue FC's Niceto Sendoa got a free kick in the 31st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Esteves in the 34th minute of play forced Merengue FC's goalkeeper Mateo Llorienzo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 34 minutes into the game, Alfredo Esteves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Mateo Llorienzo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domingo Jago in the 39th minute of play forced Marzagão's goalkeeper Pedro Luís Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mateo Llorienzo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Esteves, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eugenio Sedeni was the one to do the kick off. If Domingo Jago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Eugenio Sedeni sped through Marzagão's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pedro Luís Fernandez. Pedro Luís Fernandez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugenio Sedeni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 64 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Marzagão! The referee gave Merengue FC a penalty, 65 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jacinto Frascuelo, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Marzagão's Pedro Luís Fernandez. 4-2. In the 70th minute, Niceto Sendoa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfredo Esteves who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 71stth minute tested the skills of Mateo Llorienzo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Serafim Reis hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Domingo Jago might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Luís Fernandez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Domingo Jago ran back to his position shaking his head. When Fabiano de Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marzagão's protests and gave Fabiano de Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. César Rosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pedro Luís Fernandez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eugenio Sedeni went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. The referee felt a red card was in order, 93 minutes into the game, when Benjamin Semeno put in a rough tackle. 92 minutes into the game, one of Merengue FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Alfredo Esteves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 100th minute of the match, but Mateo Llorienzo made a huge save. For all the effort they put into the match, the Marzagão players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Merengue FC.
