After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Enrique Ferreira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pihl United's supporters rose to their feet, but Enrique Ferreira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patricio Mayol breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nicolaas Anelka struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Patricio Mayol didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pihl United. Patricio Mayol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Waselewicz in the 38th minute of play. After 38 minutes of play, Pihl United's Daniel Waselewicz made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Patricio Mayol was left in no man's land by his defense there! Patricio Mayol showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Waselewicz, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Waselewicz in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patricio Mayol saved Cobresal from getting behind. Pihl United's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luc Fontaine in the 44th minute. The corner led Pihl United's Luc Fontaine to fire away a dangerous shot which Patricio Mayol despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After the first half Pihl United were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Renato Cesarini to strike the kick off in the second half. Patricio Mayol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tommy Sundberg in the 54th minute of play. It was a well-played corner which Gabriel Jacobsson managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Daniel Waselewicz succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 58th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renato Cesarini in the 61st minute of play forced Pihl United's goalkeeper Gottfrid Haström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patricio Mayol made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Daniel Waselewicz sent off a good shot on target. In the 72nd minute, Alifonso Elorreaga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute, Pihl United's Enrique Ferreira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Patricio Mayol. Patricio Mayol yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. 78 minutes into the game, Pihl United's Daniel Waselewicz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patricio Mayol made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. Enrique Ferreira took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Patricio Mayol. Patricio Mayol dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Nicolaas Anelka managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pihl United's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolaas Anelka was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Daniel Waselewicz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Patricio Mayol made a huge save. In the 89th minute Enrique Ferreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Mayol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tommy Sundberg in the 94th minute of play forced Cobresal's goalkeeper Patricio Mayol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th minute of the match Pihl United got a corner. Cobresal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luc Fontaine ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Luc Fontaine got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Patricio Mayol quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Pihl United's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
