Bedirhan Ongay kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Orkun Mahçup made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kaptan Hiçyılmaz in the 8th minute. Yildiz's Orkun Mahçup proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Yildiz from getting a goal against them. Cevher Akyüz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arkın Akoğul in the 11th minute of the match. Caner Ağçelik's late challenge caught a Akatlar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caner Ağçelik helped the player get up and apologised. In the 14th minute, Caner Ağçelik hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cengiz Safvet hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 30 minutes into the match, Enginalp İzci notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Akatlar's Cevher Akyüz. Cevher Akyüz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The tension between the Yildiz and the Akatlar players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nurtekin Atılay hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 39th minute Nurtekin Atılay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cevher Akyüz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arkın Akoğul received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Cevher Akyüz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arkın Akoğul stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes, Aytunç Usbey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Akatlar and the Yildiz players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aşkın Tankan was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 52nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Ahmet Baki Emektar charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ahmet Baki Emektar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Yildiz getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Ahmet Baki Emektar hit a great ball. Enginalp İzci could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Cevher Akyüz made a huge save. Arkın Akoğul was extremely unlucky when he, in the 58th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Arkın Akoğul fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cevher Akyüz having to interfere. In the 65th match minute, Yildiz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Haldun Oğuzbala to maneuver through the defense. After 67 played minutes Akatlar got a freekick which was hit by Vedat Özboga. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Enginalp İzci managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yildiz's supporters rose to their feet, but Enginalp İzci was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cevher Akyüz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cevher Akyüz made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Enginalp İzci sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Akatlar getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Bedirhan Ongay hit a great ball. The supporters of Yildiz booed when Akatlar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aytunç Usbey didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Kaptan Hiçyılmaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Akatlar's goalkeeper Cevher Akyüz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ahmet Baki Emektar hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. When Kaptan Hiçyılmaz came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Akatlar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kaptan Hiçyılmaz couldn't finish the play. 88 minutes into the match, Yildiz's goal looked a bit too open when Kaptan Hiçyılmaz came free, but Orkun Mahçup reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kaptan Hiçyılmaz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Orkun Mahçup read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. The Yildiz supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Yildiz would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
