Golden Dragón F.C's Hilario Pesquera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 30th minute of play. Nery Pumpido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ceyhan Celvet, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. GuateFortín's defense didn't have a chance, in the 35th minute, when Ceyhan Celvet scored to the left of an out of position Nery Pumpido, making the score, 3-0. The GuateFortín fans' excitement grew in the 45th match minute when GuateFortín's Zico Zellier looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Thierry Henry was the one to do the kick off. Angel Alvarenga kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Golden Dragón F.C's Dario Betzanos was substituted for Ceyhan Celvet. In the 78th minute Thierry Henry shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hilario Pesquera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Golden Dragón F.C's Hilario Pesquera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Golden Dragón F.C from getting a goal against them. Nery Pumpido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dario Betzanos in the 86th minute of the match. In the 88th minute, Dario Betzanos made a precise shot to the right of Nery Pumpido. GuateFortín's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-1. After some careless play in the Golden Dragón F.C defense, William Villanueva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hilario Pesquera. The Golden Dragón F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hilario Pesquera should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thierry Henry in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hilario Pesquera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Golden Dragón F.C fans cheered their team off the field, for while GuateFortín had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
