Tolek Kiszkiel came out of the goal and Carlos Eufrasio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Poland's Tolek Kiszkiel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roman Gregory in the 16th minute of play. Roman Gregory sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Eufrasio might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tolek Kiszkiel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Eufrasio ran back to his position shaking his head. Lech Kaczucha hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute of the match Argentina got a corner. Poland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Carlos Eufrasio ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Carlos Eufrasio almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Poland's Tolek Kiszkiel did a great save. Roman Gregory took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tolek Kiszkiel. Tolek Kiszkiel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 44th minute Vicente Nevada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tolek Kiszkiel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vicente Nevada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Poland players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Argentina were winning 0-2.

Lev Yashin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damazy Polek, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Tolek Kiszkiel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Eufrasio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Konstanty Janiczek in the 74th minute of play forced Argentina's goalkeeper Lev Yashin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Modesto Gipuzkoa didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Konstanty Janiczek in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lev Yashin saved Argentina from getting behind. The Argentina supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Argentina would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
