Mirko Vervoort made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aykutalp Tecelli in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Ed Seinstra reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Yorrick Zoethout. The goal made the score 3-1. A collision led to U21 Netherlands getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Frans Koopmans hit a great ball. 36 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Netherlands's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Harmen Kloppenburg was slow to take the kick. During this time SV Balverliefd's players had a chance to rest. Aykutalp Tecelli might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mirko Vervoort. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aykutalp Tecelli ran back to his position shaking his head. Yorrick Zoethout made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Ed Seinstra sent off a good shot on target. U21 Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after SV Balverliefd's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Henk Hoebe took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Henk Hoebe got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Yorrick Zoethout quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Mirko Vervoort showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgil Lindelöf in the 43rd minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ed Seinstra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. U21 Netherlands's Mirko Vervoort proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save U21 Netherlands from getting a goal against them. In the 56th minute Ed Seinstra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yorrick Zoethout saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mirko Vervoort stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Melker Gudmundsson's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. After a rather tough play, SV Balverliefd's Harmen Kloppenburg got a free kick in the 61st minute. Jyrki Kujanpää recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. U21 Netherlands made a substitution. Tony Montana replaced Ed Seinstra. Mirko Vervoort made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aykutalp Tecelli in the 77th minute. 82 minutes into the match, U21 Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Melker Gudmundsson came free, but Mirko Vervoort reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Netherlands's Mirko Vervoort proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Netherlands from getting a goal against them. In the 90th minute, Ruud Geels hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The U21 Netherlands support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
