An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonas Eate in the 27th minute of play forced Yalapa's goalkeeper Everardo Sal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Catalano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Gaston, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as AQUILES's Jonas Eate slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Everardo Sal. That made the score 1-0 after 36 minutes of play. With a little luck, Yalapa's Everardo Sal got control of the ball when Rivaldo Pele tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 48th match minute, AQUILES was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moises Urtsua to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Anier Eudoxio made the kick off in the second half. Yalapa's Everardo Sal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonas Eate in the 53rd minute of play. Cafu Hermes kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. If Gaston Raulo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee felt a red card was in order, 65 minutes into the game, when Silvano Resto put in a rough tackle. In the 66th match minute, Yalapa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvano Resto to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Yalapa's Silvano Resto got a free kick in the 67th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Yalapa's zone, Lothar Matheus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Everardo Sal came out of the goal and Lothar Matheus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Urbano Navarro fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Yalapa's protests and gave Urbano Navarro a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Yalapa getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Urbano Navarro hit a great ball. In the 71st match minute, Yalapa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eugenio Garci to maneuver through the defense. Lothar Matheus, 72 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 74 minutes, Cafu Hermes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AQUILES and the Yalapa players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, AQUILES's Cafu Hermes got a free kick in the 74th minute. After 75 played minutes, Yalapa's Urbano Navarro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pedro Catalano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Yalapa reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardo Clis got free with Pedro Catalano in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Yalapa's Gaston Raulo got a free kick in the 88th minute. 93 minutes into the game, Neymar Ronaldinho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Everardo Sal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. There was no doubt that AQUILES were the better team. AQUILES's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
