The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Norberto de Azevedo took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cláudio Penha. Cláudio Penha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Cláudio Penha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norberto de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute Osvaldo Negri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Penha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Osvaldo Negri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cláudio Penha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Osvaldo Negri went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. If Norberto de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Víktor Albuquerque's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedrão Sarmento read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, Angelo Freitas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ValenBehr F.C. - FSCMZ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vista Alegre FC the free kick. The supporters of Vista Alegre FC booed when ValenBehr F.C. - FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osvaldo Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Penha having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Vista Alegre FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nildo Saldanha came free, but Pedrão Sarmento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Norberto de Azevedo to make the kick off. Pedrão Sarmento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Víktor Albuquerque, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 66th minute Víktor Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrão Sarmento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Cláudio Penha managed to avoid a goal in the 68thth minute, when Vista Alegre FC's Norberto de Azevedo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Nildo Saldanha charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nildo Saldanha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to ValenBehr F.C. - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Nildo Saldanha hit a great ball. ValenBehr F.C. - FSCMZ's defense didn't have a chance, in the 75th minute, when Norberto de Azevedo scored to the left of an out of position Cláudio Penha, making the score, 0-3. When Osvaldo Negri came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Vista Alegre FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osvaldo Negri couldn't finish the play. Cláudio Penha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Norberto de Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in ValenBehr F.C. - FSCMZ's zone, Norberto de Azevedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cláudio Penha came out of the goal and Norberto de Azevedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A throw-in in the 91st minute of the game was made by Flávio Montenegro with Antônio Carlos Vander as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.
