The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Michel Sergipano during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 17 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Palmeiras! Carlos Augusto Recife made an important save on a dangerous shot by Meelis Kiviloo in the 21st minute. Through an outstanding action, after 23 minutes, Carlos Augusto Recife successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 81st minute Veiko Üts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Augusto Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Augusto Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kaarel Okspuu in the 86th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, José Carlos Simões dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Kert Lüüs, 1-6. Kaarel Okspuu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Augusto Recife having to interfere. The Palmeiras supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Palmeiras would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
