Waldemar Jacinto hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Stanislav Kaiturov was a little too slow when Dagoberto Moura got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 7-0. In the 36th minute, Palmeiras's José Carlos Simões ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Stanislav Kaiturov. Stanislav Kaiturov yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 8-0. Stanislav Kaiturov was a little too slow when Bernt Jønsson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 9-0. 44 minutes into the game, Rudolf Pinchuk was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Galatasaray SK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmeiras the free kick. 46 minutes in the game, José Carlos Simões fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Stanislav Kaiturov having to interfere. If José Carlos Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Stanislav Kaiturov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 16-0. 91 minutes into the match, Galatasaray SK's goal looked a bit too open when José Carlos Simões came free, but Stanislav Kaiturov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
