Thanks to some nice moves Bernt Jønsson could shoot a difficult shot in the 8th minute, which Lyubcho Simidzhiev however easily saved by the left post. If Fábio de Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lyubcho Simidzhiev made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Bernt Jønsson sent off a good shot on target. 29 minutes into the match, Veliko Delov had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacinto Chaves. Palmeiras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Veliko Delov was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Jacinto Chaves made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Yuli Blagiev sent off a good shot on target. 58 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goalkeeper Jacinto Chaves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yuli Blagiev. Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yuli Blagiev in the 63rd minute of play.
