MelissaMel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Augusto Valery was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Toninho Terra hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Raí da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Benjamin Mazza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clemente Montenegro in the 14th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ruy Lara during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ruy Lara hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute Róbson Messias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlinhos Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Valery in the 72nd minute of play forced Rockets's goalkeeper Benjamin Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gilvan Chaves got free with Carlinhos Pinho in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Róbson Messiass short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Carlinhos Pinho to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. MelissaMel were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
