The referee ignored Escuadrón Mercenario's protests and gave Sarracino Abad a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Escuadrón Mercenario getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Sarracino Abad hit a great ball. Florencio Salomone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristo Abalos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Osvaldo Bidun's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gorka Abel was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. The Escuadrón Mercenario supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Escuadrón Mercenario would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
