Sydney Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Candido Lehior having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Jânio Lopez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 13 played minutes Barrenta SC got a freekick which was hit by Paulo José Azevedo. Candido Lehior made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Gerber in the 17th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Barrenta SC's goal looked a bit too open when Leonides Asteri came free, but Edgar Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Hugo Gerber cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Candido Lehior was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
