Zsolt Vörös scored 0-1 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcelinho Matorin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Szombathely Squirrels booed when Mexilhão F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th minute of the match Ferenc Jászberényi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcelinho Matorin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, Szombathely Squirrels's Róbert Kormos got control of the ball when Cristiano Romero tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 31 minutes into the game, when Ediberto Donatello put in a rough tackle. The supporters of Szombathely Squirrels booed when Mexilhão F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ediberto Donatello didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristiano Romero could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Róbert Kormos made a huge save. Cristiano Romero took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Róbert Kormos. Róbert Kormos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. After some careless play in the Szombathely Squirrels defense, Reinaldo Penha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Róbert Kormos. The Szombathely Squirrels fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Róbert Kormos should have stopped the shot.
Mihály Csontos kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Róbert Kormos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristiano Romero in the 52nd minute of play. 54 minutes into the game, Nelsinho Dantas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mexilhão F. C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Szombathely Squirrels the free kick. After recieving a nice pass, Szombathely Squirrels's Ferenc Jászberényi tried to score from far away in the 55th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Mexilhão F. C.'s Marcelinho Matorin got control of the ball when Mihály Földesi tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 60th minute Mihály Földesi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelinho Matorin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Reinaldo Penha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 65th minute Zsolt Vörös shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelinho Matorin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, Mihály Földesi notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Mexilhão F. C.'s Marcelinho Matorin. Marcelinho Matorin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Mihály Földesi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Szombathely Squirrels's Róbert Kormos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Romero in the 88th minute of play. Mexilhão F. C.'s Marcelinho Matorin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihály Földesi in the 89th minute of play. When the final whistle went the supporters of Szombathely Squirrels were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Mexilhão F. C. side.
