The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eli Christensen during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Fajteri booed when Zamalek FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eli Christensen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Merlin Dolan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eduard Komatar in the 15th minute of the match. Maximilian Stražišar struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Merlin Dolan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fajteri. Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximilian Stražišar in the 30th minute of play. 35 minutes into the game, Valerij Žnidaršič cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Merlin Dolan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marsel Pečjak in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Merlin Dolan saved Zamalek FC from getting behind. Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximilian Stražišar in the 43rd minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Malcolm Neal to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56thth minute of the game Ožbej Musar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 58 minutes into the game, Fajteri's Marsel Pečjak nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Merlin Dolan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 64 minutes into the match, Marsel Pečjak had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Merlin Dolan. Zamalek FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marsel Pečjak was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 69th minute, Apolonije Podobnik hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Zamalek FC's Merlin Dolan got control of the ball when Marsel Pečjak tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Zamalek FC's zone, Eduard Komatar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Merlin Dolan came out of the goal and Eduard Komatar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marsel Pečjak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Merlin Dolan having to interfere. In the 96th minute of the match, Marsel Pečjak got a very nice opportunity to score, but Merlin Dolan was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When the match was over Fajteri could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Zamalek FC throughout the match.
