The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Viento Norte FC's David Sendoa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Mihăilescu in the 8th minute of play. David Sendoa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Golo Phoenix in the 9th minute of play. Aristide Fetea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. David Sendoa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Mihăilescu scored 0-1 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of David Sendoa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. David Sendoa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nistor Vermeşan in the 20th minute of play. Dacian Ghițescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Vergaray in the 21st minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, Viento Norte FC's goal looked a bit too open when Golo Phoenix came free, but David Sendoa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dacian Ghițescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santo Cutberto, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Golo Phoenix in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg David Sendoa saved Viento Norte FC from getting behind. In the 41st minute, Viento Norte FC's Ricardo Ciceron ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dacian Ghițescu. The supporters of PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca booed when Viento Norte FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Guillem didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 47 minutes, Lucian Şimonca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucian Şimonca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Godofredo Benitez to make the kick off. Viento Norte FC's David Sendoa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Viento Norte FC from getting a goal against them. Aristide Fetea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but David Sendoa made a huge save. 57 minutes into the match, Viento Norte FC's goalkeeper David Sendoa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aristide Fetea. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Dacian Ghițescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santo Cutberto in the 59th minute of play. Lucian Şimonca's late challenge caught a Viento Norte FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tiberiu Rotariu hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. When Cristinel Uncheşelu fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's protests and gave Cristinel Uncheşelu a yellow card for diving instead. In the 81st minute Santo Cutberto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Ghițescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Sendoa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Golo Phoenix in the 83rd minute of play. If Tiberiu Rotariu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Godofredo Benitez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aristide Fetea hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. If Virgil Jupân had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Virgil Jupân fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Sendoa having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
