Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jonas Veloso in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eddie Gallin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Folke Engman in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Wellington Barbosa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 19 played minutes Vasco FC got a freekick which was hit by Adalberto de Souza. In the 27th minute, one of Vasco FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vasco FC. Wellington Barbosa had in the 28thth minute some difficulties stopping Folke Engman's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The supporters of Vasco FC booed when Malmö White Knights was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ingvar Bjursell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gil Motta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 36 minutes into the game, Jerônimo Severo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vasco FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Malmö White Knights the free kick.
