In the 4th minute of the match, Sermet Yalgın got a very nice opportunity to score, but Şemsettin Tanaltay was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Bornova's Sonny Alén played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zülfikar Akgöl in the 5th minute of play. Sonny Alén showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orhan Dalan in the 7th minute of the match. When Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ's Şanver Enfa in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bornova's goalie prevented a goal. When Eray Sefer fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ's protests and gave Eray Sefer a yellow card for diving instead. Şemsettin Tanaltay made an important save on a dangerous shot by Şeref Onatkan in the 15th minute. Sonny Alén made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cem Macit in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cem Macit in the 25th minute of play forced Bornova's goalkeeper Sonny Alén to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Orhan Dalan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sonny Alén saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Bornova getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Çeliker Barbaros hit a great ball. Artun Kaçan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Şemsettin Tanaltay having to make a save. Şeref Onatkan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Şemsettin Tanaltay made a huge save. Şemsettin Tanaltay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artun Kaçan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Bornova's Sermet Yalgın got a free kick in the 36th minute. After 40 played minutes Bornova got a freekick which was hit by Sergen Tanaltay. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Artun Kaçan made the kick off in the second half. Şemsettin Tanaltay didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sermet Yalgın went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Pekin Akdal lost his temper 58 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 57th minute of the game. One of Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bornova:s goal. The referee gave Bornova a penalty, 59 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Sermet Yalgın, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ's Şemsettin Tanaltay. 2-0. Şemsettin Tanaltay stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Artun Kaçan's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Artun Kaçan put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Şemsettin Tanaltay. After a rather tough play, Bornova's Sergen Tanaltay got a free kick in the 67th minute. Şeref Onatkan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şemsettin Tanaltay having to interfere. Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ's Şemsettin Tanaltay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sermet Yalgın in the 80th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ's Ömer Rıza Zeyrek got a free kick in the 82nd minute. In the 89th minute, Artun Kaçan made a precise shot to the right of Şemsettin Tanaltay. Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. After 92 played minutes Bornova got a freekick which was hit by Artun Kaçan. The supporters of Bornova booed when Kᴇᴛᴇɴçᴀʏɪʀ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Şanver Enfa didn't get a good kick on the ball.
