Santo Careaga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zeledon Sazon in the 2nd minute. In the 4th minute, Cheche Barma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 12th minute Eguen Catalan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pastor Bartoli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulo Garin kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Leo Victoro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Santo Careaga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 21st minute, Leo Victoro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 27 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Lilian Thuram came free, but Pastor Bartoli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute Programayin were awarded a corner. Michael Pimentel went to the cornerflag to take it. Michael Pimentel made a great header on Programayin's corner, it was just that Independiente's Pastor Bartoli managed to reach the ball for a save. The Programayin fans' excitement grew in the 32nd match minute when Programayin's Lilian Thuram looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Santo Careaga made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Zeledon Sazon sent off a good shot on target. Santo Careaga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leo Victoro, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. 52 minutes into the match, Programayin's goal looked a bit too open when Zeledon Sazon came free, but Santo Careaga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Programayin's Santo Careaga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zeledon Sazon in the 54th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 55th minute of the game. One of Independiente:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Programayin:s goal. 63 minutes into the match, Independiente's Freddy Xacintu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Santo Careaga narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Programayin's Santo Careaga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Gorosti in the 64th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Gorosti in the 65th minute of play forced Programayin's goalkeeper Santo Careaga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 71st minute, Leo Victoro made a precise shot to the right of Santo Careaga. Programayin's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. In the 74th minute, Lilian Thuram hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomás Cordaryal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paulo Garin hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Mariano Gorosti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santo Careaga having to interfere. After 82 played minutes Programayin got a freekick which was hit by Luli Lulev. With a little luck, Independiente's Pastor Bartoli got control of the ball when Eguen Catalan tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Tomás Cordaryal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independiente's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomás Cordaryal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santo Careaga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zeledon Sazon kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. 97 minutes into the game, Independiente's Leo Victoro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Santo Careaga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-2. There was no doubt that Independiente were the better team. Independiente's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
