Uwe Ziege showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iustin Perșa, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 27 minutes into the match, The Huns's goalkeeper Martin Pânzaru had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sandu Alexa. After a defensive mix-up in Rot-Weiss-Essen's zone, Calistrat Vulcan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Uwe Ziege came out of the goal and Calistrat Vulcan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Denis Trenker hit a great ball. Calistrat Vulcan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Uwe Ziege tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Chris Rösele hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Chris Rösele hit a great ball. Sandu Alexa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Martin Pânzaru made a huge save.

The wind increased when Erkan Fostiropoulos made the kick off in the second half. The Huns's Robert Bot shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 52nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Uwe Ziege but with some difficulty. Uwe Ziege made an important save on a dangerous shot by Calistrat Vulcan in the 58th minute. In the 58th minute of the match, Calistrat Vulcan got a very nice opportunity to score, but Uwe Ziege was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Calistrat Vulcan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Uwe Ziege tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Martin Pânzaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ebbo Böse in the 93rd minute of the match. If Iustin Perșa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Huns played a much better game than Rot-Weiss-Essen and deserved their victory. The Rot-Weiss-Essen players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
