But to his dismay, Fabian Krinke quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Eliseu Melo came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Rot-Weiss-Essen's Sandu Alexa. But to his dismay, Sandu Alexa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When Felix Balzer fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rot-Weiss-Essen's protests and gave Felix Balzer a yellow card for diving instead. In the 39th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Balzer to maneuver through the defense. Felix Balzer got his second yellow card in the match during the 46th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Felix Balzer hit a great ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Erkan Fostiropoulos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eliseu Melo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xavi Haberer in the 58th minute of the match. Despite this Eliseu Melo quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Charles Santos took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adam Northe. Adam Northe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Fabian Krinke got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arno Claußen kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match.
