With a couple of smart ball manuevers Traian Stoicescu in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hilario Ubendu saved Gimnasia y tiro from getting behind. The Huns's Martin Pânzaru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gavino Odilon in the 34th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Gimnasia y tiro's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Hunor Adam fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Martin Pânzaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gavino Odilon in the 40th minute of the match. 41 minutes in the game, Alex Voina fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Hilario Ubendu having to interfere. Traian Stoicescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hilario Ubendu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Traian Stoicescu ran back to his position shaking his head. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
