Corinthians Paulista booed when WKS Śląsk Wrocław was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilbert á Borg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Fábio Viana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Feliks Orszak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Norbert Poremba charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Norbert Poremba the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Luiz Fábio Viana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francis Kerr in the 31st minute of the match. 38 minutes into the match, Gilbert á Borg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luiz Fábio Viana. S.C. Corinthians Paulista's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilbert á Borg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. After 41 minutes, Hamílton Mota mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the S.C. Corinthians Paulista and the WKS Śląsk Wrocław players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, S.C. Corinthians Paulista's Hamílton Mota got a free kick in the 41st minute. Afonso Nascimento's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Konrad Marut firmly grabbed it by the left post.

When Norbert Poremba was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 70 minutes had been played.
