After 25 minutes of play, FC Dundee's Pogi Hanson made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eliézer Recife was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Uruguaiana's Valdo Hoffmann got a free kick in the 29th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jardel Rosado got free with Tom Are in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 40th minute, Hristo Botev ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eliézer Recife was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After some careless play in the Uruguaiana defense, Pogi Hanson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eliézer Recife. The Uruguaiana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eliézer Recife should have stopped the shot. Eliézer Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pudes Figueres, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arno Luuk stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Dundee's Sven Seitse slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Eliézer Recife. That made the score 0-5 after 51 minutes of play. 57 minutes into the game, Pudes Figueres was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Dundee's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguaiana the free kick. FC Dundee's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. FC Dundee played a much better game than Uruguaiana and deserved their victory. The Uruguaiana players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
