The ADM Taquaras fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Décio Marinho should have stopped the shot. ADM Taquaras's Décio Marinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luciano Leão in the 37th minute of play. In the 39th minute of the match REAL VASCO RIO got a corner. ADM Taquaras's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. José Pedro Simão ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led REAL VASCO RIO's Alfredo Fernandes to a score. 0-3 in the 39th minute. In the 42nd minute Luciano Leão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Décio Marinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to ADM Taquaras getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Michel Shevchenko hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rui Cabral during the 46th minute. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedrão Souza was the one to do the kick off.
