Gremio Viana's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Luna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredinho Andrade breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Luna in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfredinho Andrade prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alfredinho Andrade stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Luna's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Carlos Alberto Faria made in the 45th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Alfredo Diniz however managed to control. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carlos Luna was the one to do the kick off. Carlos Luna might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alfredinho Andrade. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Luna ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Luna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Alfredinho Andrade made a huge save. 54 minutes in the game Carlos Alberto Faria did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Alfredo Diniz. Galo do Cerrado's Alfredinho Andrade proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Galo do Cerrado from getting a goal against them. Carlos Luna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Alfredinho Andrade made a huge save. A wasted opportunity for Gremio Viana. 73 minutes into the game, Carlos Luna cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Alfredinho Andrade was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 76th minute, Alfredo Diniz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th match minute, Galo do Cerrado was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Inácio França to maneuver through the defense. Alfredinho Andrade showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edson Leme, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 83 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goal looked a bit too open when Cássio Matorin came free, but João Carvalhais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Carlos Luna came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Gremio Viana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Luna couldn't finish the play. 95 minutes into the match, Gremio Viana's goal looked a bit too open when Vânderson Koehler came free, but João Carvalhais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gremio Viana's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
