Paul Stanley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Luna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. João Carvalhais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delmiro Matteo in the 15th minute of play. João Carvalhais showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gaston Cedro in the 23rd minute of the match. With a little luck, Gremio Viana's João Carvalhais got control of the ball when Carolo Tanio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Delmiro Matteo ran back to his position shaking his head. Gremio Viana's João Carvalhais played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelino Lartaun in the 91st minute of play. In the 94th minute, Lucio Duardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gremio Viana eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
