Giraldo Laiseca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeff Clemons in the 15th minute. After having played for 17 minutes, Celestino Alfaro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CERRO PORTEÑO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celestino Alfaro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 23rd minute, Jeff Clemons hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th minute Luisito Gadañon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jayson Burnett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 33 minutes of play, CERRO PORTEÑO's Luisito Gadañon made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jayson Burnett was left in no man's land by his defense there! 37 minutes into the game, Luisito Gadañon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Jayson Burnett was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 40 minutes into the game, Nuno Berrondo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CERRO PORTEÑO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave River tu grato nombre the free kick. Nuno Berrondo kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Jeff Clemons recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, River tu grato nombre's Shayne Lovett got a free kick in the 44th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

CERRO PORTEÑO made a substitution. Astor Sobrido replaced Tadeu Moyua. 53 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's goal looked a bit too open when Jeff Clemons came free, but Giraldo Laiseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Celestino Alfaro kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Giraldo Laiseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeff Clemons, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After a rather tough play, River tu grato nombre's Arkhyp Polyanskyi got a free kick in the 60th minute. After 66 played minutes CERRO PORTEÑO got a freekick which was hit by Gotzon Lamas. If Luisito Gadañon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th minute Santo Thomas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giraldo Laiseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, River tu grato nombre's Arkhyp Polyanskyi got a free kick in the 76th minute. Felix Wedemeyer kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Luisito Gadañon kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. In the 95th minute, Astor Sobrido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. CERRO PORTEÑO's Giraldo Laiseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeff Clemons in the 97th minute of play. The CERRO PORTEÑO supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing CERRO PORTEÑO would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
