Catholic Church's Alfonso De Santis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro Cortez in the 4th minute of play. Alfonso De Santis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yuri Gaspar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 10 minutes of play, Sporting Clube Patrício's Eliseu Mourinho made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alfonso De Santis was left in no man's land by his defense there! 13 minutes into the game, Jens Bark threw the ball into play from the sideline. Sporting Clube Patrício's Albertino Anjos quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. When Tomas Åström came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Catholic Church fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Åström couldn't finish the play. Alfonso De Santis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarbas Fontoura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sporting Clube Patrício's Almiro Setúbal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommy Bennet in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th match minute, Sporting Clube Patrício was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abílio Lobo to maneuver through the defense. Catholic Church's Jens Bark suffered a concussion in the 35th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. 35 minutes into the game, Romão Santos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting Clube Patrício's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Catholic Church the free kick. Catholic Church's Birger Nordin was substituted for Jens Bark. In the 36th match minute, Sporting Clube Patrício was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romão Santos to maneuver through the defense. Tommy Bennet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Almiro Setúbal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube Patrício's Sandro Cortez got a free kick in the 40th minute. 42 minutes into the match, Catholic Church's goal looked a bit too open when Yuri Gaspar came free, but Alfonso De Santis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 46 minutes of play, Catholic Church's Stig-Åke Ståhlberg made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Almiro Setúbal was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eliseu Mourinho to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yuri Gaspar in the 52nd minute of play forced Catholic Church's goalkeeper Alfonso De Santis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 60th minute, Tommy Bennet made a precise shot to the right of Almiro Setúbal. Sporting Clube Patrício's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. Yuri Gaspar might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alfonso De Santis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Yuri Gaspar ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 76th minute, one of Catholic Church:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Catholic Church. Jarbas Fontoura could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Alfonso De Santis made a huge save. Catholic Church's Alfonso De Santis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yuri Gaspar in the 84th minute of play. When Albertino Anjos fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting Clube Patrício's protests and gave Albertino Anjos a yellow card for diving instead. Albertino Anjos kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. After 93 played minutes Sporting Clube Patrício got a freekick which was hit by Romão Santos. Albertino Anjos hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Although Catholic Church had been in control for most of the match, Sporting Clube Patrício still came away with the win.
