After taking down the ball on Attard Gunners's corner Jake Debono fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jorge Valério quite easily take care of the ball. The supporters of Ponte do Carro booed when Attard Gunners was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Josh Triganza didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hilário Campelo in the 12th minute of play forced Attard Gunners's goalkeeper Amadeo Rapinett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Ponte do Carro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jorge Valério should have stopped the shot. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 73rd minute, Hilário Campelo fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Ponte do Carro's Jorge Valério played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrea Xuereb in the 75th minute of play. In the 77th minute Albert Diacono shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Valério saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Micael Marques struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Amadeo Rapinett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ponte do Carro. The supporters of Attard Gunners booed when Ponte do Carro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Guerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Ponte do Carro supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ponte do Carro would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
