Patrick Knechtli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastiano Cañon in the 26th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zernin Mendivil in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patrick Knechtli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Olympique Fribourg's Patrick Knechtli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zernin Mendivil in the 34th minute of play. The supporters of ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦ booed when Olympique Fribourg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matt Metzger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patrick Knechtli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zernin Mendivil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zernin Mendivil stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Zernin Mendivil fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ♠♥ Stardust Crusaders ♣♦'s protests and gave Zernin Mendivil a yellow card for diving instead. 51 minutes into the game, Olympique Fribourg's Raik Topuz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edgardo Fuica made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. When Ciro Aguilera fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
