Wlodzimierz Sokolski hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antoni Cupial in the 20th minute of play forced Salem Gunners BK's goalkeeper Kenny Holmberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 24 played minutes Salem Gunners BK got a freekick which was hit by Viggo Berggren. The supporters of Salem Gunners BK booed when Newcastle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tanek Rakowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frederico Palmeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Salem Gunners BK getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Dragoljub Rangelov hit a great ball. After 33 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Wlodzimierz Sokolski. After 35 minutes, Filip Orling mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newcastle United and the Salem Gunners BK players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 35th match minute, Newcastle United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filip Orling to maneuver through the defense. Kenny Holmberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wlodzimierz Sokolski in the 38th minute of play. 41 minutes into the game, Wlodzimierz Sokolski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Kenny Holmberg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Newcastle United's zone, Cícero Teles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kryspin Wyrostek came out of the goal and Cícero Teles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Newcastle United's Kryspin Wyrostek proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Newcastle United from getting a goal against them. If Frederico Palmeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Remigiusz Bronkala managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newcastle United's supporters rose to their feet, but Remigiusz Bronkala was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kenny Holmberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kenny Holmberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wlodzimierz Sokolski in the 65th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Newcastle United's Wlodzimierz Sokolski ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kenny Holmberg. Kenny Holmberg yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Salem Gunners BK's Carl Hamberg got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Newcastle United's zone, Cícero Teles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kryspin Wyrostek came out of the goal and Cícero Teles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cícero Teles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Arkadiusz Rojewski took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Kenny Holmberg to make any attempt to save it. Newcastle United's Kryspin Wyrostek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carl Hamberg in the 95th minute of play.
