Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

In the 52ndth minute of the game Arnulfo Mikelar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nova Erechim - FSCMZ's Amadeo Rufo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nova Erechim - FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Pedro Fagondo was slow to take the kick. During this time La Mazorca's players had a chance to rest.
