The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. C. A. The corner ended in Diego Cagna almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Vascogoianiense FC's Bernardo Corrêa did a great save. Gilmar Monteiro charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gilmar Monteiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. C. A. Independiente made a substitution. Saul Bryson replaced Pedro Monzón. A collision led to Vascogoianiense FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Gilmar Monteiro hit a great ball. Xu Yun Quan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of Bernardo Corrêa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xu Yun Quan in the 20th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Bernardo Corrêa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernardo Corrêa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xu Yun Quan, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Xu Yun Quan might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bernardo Corrêa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Xu Yun Quan ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Pirani in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ubaldo Fillol saved C. A. Independiente from getting behind. When Xu Yun Quan came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the C. A. Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Xu Yun Quan couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in C. A. Independiente's zone, Waldemar Ortiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ubaldo Fillol came out of the goal and Waldemar Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Xu Yun Quan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernardo Corrêa having to make a save. In the 35th minute Xu Yun Quan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernardo Corrêa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. C. A. Independiente's Ubaldo Fillol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pirani in the 39th minute of play. Diego Cagna blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernardo Corrêa having to make a save. When C. A. Independiente's Xu Yun Quan in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sandy Spaulding was the one to do the kick off. C. A. Independiente's Xu Yun Quan got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Xu Yun Quan took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bernardo Corrêa. Bernardo Corrêa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Vascogoianiense FC were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after C. A. Independiente's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dorian Quirino took the corner. Dorian Quirino made a great header on Vascogoianiense FC's corner, it was just that C. A. Independiente's Ubaldo Fillol managed to reach the ball for a save. Wesley Vinhas hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the game, C. A. Independiente's Xu Yun Quan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bernardo Corrêa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Gustavo López kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Ubaldo Fillol acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 63rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Dede Barros. Ubaldo Fillol was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gilmar Monteiro showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-1 in the 68 minute of play.
