A hard shot 3 in the game by Bart Vetter from a close distance when the talented Tobias Elizardo managed to make a qualified save. Sarmiento de Resistencia's players were relieved. Bart Vetter did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Tobias Elizardo 3 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in R.C. Marseille's zone, Rodolfo Guerau stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustave Lechat came out of the goal and Rodolfo Guerau tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tobias Elizardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Teinturier in the 9th minute of play. Francis Sarmiento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustave Lechat having to interfere. Marseille's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Florent Travers in the 15th minute. In the 16th minute of the match, Bart Vetter got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tobias Elizardo was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Rodolfo Guerau struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Gustave Lechat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sarmiento de Resistencia. 23 minutes into the game, William Chausson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. R.C. Marseille's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sarmiento de Resistencia the free kick. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for R.C. Marseille! 25 minutes into the match, Bogumil Spychalski notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of R.C. Marseille's Gustave Lechat. Gustave Lechat was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 29th minute Rodolfo Guerau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Lechat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tobias Elizardo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Teinturier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustave Lechat made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Guerau in the 33rd minute of play. In the 37thth minute of the game Paulo Teinturier who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sarmiento de Resistencia's Tobias Elizardo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, R.C. Marseille's Pierre-Emmanuel Teboul got a free kick in the 41st minute. 44 minutes into the match, R.C. Marseille's goal looked a bit too open when Rodolfo Guerau came free, but Gustave Lechat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rodolfo Guerau made a kick off. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind R.C. Marseille's goalkeeper Gustave Lechat, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 57 minutes, Francis Sarmiento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sarmiento de Resistencia and the R.C. Marseille players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Sarmiento de Resistencia getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Francis Sarmiento hit a great ball. Sarmiento de Resistencia's Tobias Elizardo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Teinturier in the 58th minute of play. 73 minutes into the match, Sarmiento de Resistencia's Rodolfo Guerau sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gustave Lechat narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sarmiento de Resistencia were awarded a corner in the 74th minute after R.C. Marseille's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bogumil Spychalski took the corner. The corner ended in Bogumil Spychalski almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but R.C. Marseille's Gustave Lechat did a great save. After 78 played minutes R.C. Marseille got a freekick which was hit by Bart Vetter. In the 80th minute Bart Vetter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tobias Elizardo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustave Lechat made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Rodolfo Guerau sent off a good shot on target. Florent Travers made a great header on R.C. Marseille's corner, it was just that Sarmiento de Resistencia's Tobias Elizardo managed to reach the ball for a save. 94 minutes into the game, Sarmiento de Resistencia's Rodolfo Guerau nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gustave Lechat made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Sarmiento de Resistencia walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
