In the 39th minute Ceferino Gomar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergio Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Ceferino Gomar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brzeźnica Lynx's supporters rose to their feet, but Ceferino Gomar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sergio Romero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 42 minutes into the match, Karol Jekot had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sergio Romero. Sporting de Gijón's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Karol Jekot was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Sporting de Gijón's Damián Šilha was substituted for Benigno Eriz. Celestino Illart kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elpidio Bixintxo to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Zbigniew Piglowski could shoot a difficult shot in the 85th minute, which Sergio Romero however easily saved by the left post. Sergio Romero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ceferino Gomar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sergio Romero was out of position in the 91 minute of play, and Ceferino Gomar capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ceferino Gomar really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Barnaba Wachna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elpidio Bixintxo in the 94th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elpidio Bixintxo in the 97th minute of play forced Brzeźnica Lynx's goalkeeper Barnaba Wachna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
