Boruc Perkowski had in the 9thth minute some difficulties stopping Elpidio Bixintxo's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Sergio Romero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Filip Rusin in the 10th minute. Boruc Perkowski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norberto Iliana in the 12th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, Melchor Rosio notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Wertian S Salvinorins's Boruc Perkowski. Boruc Perkowski was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Boruc Perkowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Melchor Rosio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Wertian S Salvinorins defense, Melchor Rosio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Boruc Perkowski. The Wertian S Salvinorins fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Boruc Perkowski should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Melchor Rosio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Boruc Perkowski was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. In the 46th minute, Celestino Illart hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Sporting de Gijón were leading 0-6. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sporting de Gijón's Damián Šilha was substituted for Benigno Eriz. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Elpidio Bixintxo to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Norberto Iliana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting de Gijón's supporters crossed their fingers, but Norberto Iliana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 56 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Válter Nogueira. In the 70th minute Konrad Chodzinski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergio Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 73 minutes Wertian S Salvinorins's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Elpidio Bixintxo who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Sporting de Gijón's corner Elpidio Bixintxo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Boruc Perkowski quite easily take care of the ball. Elpidio Bixintxo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
