Jonathan Zanette showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Proca, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Adam Proca received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Proca in the 34th minute of play forced Grêmio 20 Julho's goalkeeper Jonathan Zanette to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Grêmio 20 Julho getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Allan Ortiz hit a great ball. Jonathan Zanette was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Daniel Mentis. Sancho Andres kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Gilmar Romero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio 20 Julho's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilmar Romero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zbigniew Laba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
